The day has arrived

When First Love International began it's work in Kenya over 14 years ago we knew the day would come when we would see our kids grow up and leave our care. That time has come! We now have a number of high school teens on the verge of graduating and turning 18 years old. By Kenyan law, these young people will need to move off of the children's home property.

Our goal is to help them do this well.

As is the case with many orphanages around the globe, the "aged-out" kids simply pack up their belongings, say goodby to their friends and walk out the door... never to be seen from again. Huge numbers of these kids end right back in the conditions they were first saved from. Even worse, thousands every year are captured and forced into a life of crime, slavery and abuse. First Love Kenya is taking steps to prevent this from becoming our kids' reality. We are constructing a new property where we are building a transition home for these post-high school kids to live. They will be able to call it home while the learn how to navigate the unfamiliar responsibilities of adulthood.

Daraja — Bridge

In the native language of Swahili, the word daraja means bridge. This home will help them bridge from living the life of an orphaned child to one of an independent and thriving adult. Under the supervision of live-in Kenyan house parents they will be able to go to trade school or university. Some will quickly move into internships and careers through partnerships we will be developing with the community business leaders. And as all young people must do, they incrementally will begin taking care of all their their needs and expenses. Until that time they will continue to be supported by sponsoring families from around the USA. The plan is to provide this home as long as the kids are actively making progress toward their future goals and life.

Helping Every First Love Orphan Child

become a Godly Leader in Kenya.

A four-fold strategy for exceptional orphan care.

RETURN...

Godly Leaders into
the Community

With half of Kenya’s population under the age of 18, young adults are going to have a major impact on the future direction of their country. Our children will soon enter adulthood and be a driving force in government, business, media and many other fields. They will raise godly families who will begin a new legacy in Kenya.

RESTORE...

A Future and A Hope

As the children grow and become a part of their new family they see that they are valuable and loved. They gradually believe they do have a promising future and, for the first time, see themselves as becoming successful adults one day. They long to go to university, have a career, become parents and make a difference.

RESCUE...

At risk children.

Throughout Kenya, there are believed to be roughly 2.5 million orphans! That’s nearly the entire population of Chicago. Through a variety of ways First Love identifies and rescues these kids to give them a loving home they can call their own. We provide everything they need—food, clothing, education, medical and caring house parents to love them. These children are supported financially through sponsoring families throughout the USA.

RENEW...

Body, Mind & Spirit.

The early days for a new orphan come with some challenges. Most don’t speak English or even Swahili! Through much patience and loving care, these children begin to trust again and open up. Their health improves, they learn things they never thought they could do and they experience the love of Jesus all around them.
