Why do we need
to raise our own support?
We first started learning about First Love nearly ten years ago. We had the chance to hear the founder of First Love, Dr. Tom Clinton, at our church talk about a new ministry had started to take care of orphans. Rhonda went on her first trip with them in 2007 to Nairobi, Kenya. Since that first-of-many trips for us, we've increasingly got more and more involved. Since we are always open to serving God in big ways, we are in the process of joining First Love as full-time workers.
For now, we will continue in our current careers (Larry–painting business and Rhonda– emergency nursing) while we are making connections and building our support team.
We've all seen those commercials looking for just 56¢ a day for "their" cause. We wonder if any of the money given would actually go toward that cause. First Love has committed to set a different standard. We make sure 100% of all contributions given for child sponsorship, famine assistance or disaster relief goes directly to that need. To make this possible, each First Love missionary independently raises all of their salary, travel and ministry expenses through their personal support teams.
